Meet Carol Wilson
Firstly, what is your job and what does it typically involve?
I’m the Tendering Manager based in Aberdeen and have a busy and varied schedule. My day usually involves at least one meeting, either internal or external to discuss upcoming tenders, contract reviews or proposal submission strategies. I also have regular communication with the wider business development and operations teams, answering commercial queries on contracts or support drafting documents. My priorities are driven by client deadlines and we use the time between tenders to update support data and catch up on contract management documentation.
Why did you choose to work at Altus Intervention?
I joined the organisation over 10 years ago and was drawn to the size of the business, the fast paced environment and challenge of the role I had at the time – I started as tenders and contracts coordinator. The company has grown substantially since that time and my role has evolved to my current position. Whilst the business has changed ownership over the period the ethos is still the same, I like that the management team is open and make you feel involved in the business.
Is there a particular project that you are proud of?
I am lucky to have been involved at the front end of some of our key client relationships and some really interesting business propositions. Looking back I can say I really enjoyed working on the tender for retention of contract with our biggest client at that time. It was a long process with many negotiation meetings and ultimately success in being awarded their primary well intervention services contract. There was a big sigh of relief when it finally reached a positive conclusion.
What do you think makes Altus Intervention the well intervention specialists?
The attitude of the business is the key. We are a service-led contractor and our clients appreciate our honesty, attitude and delivery. It really is a team effort and everyone goes the extra mile to get the job done right.
I love the challenge of meeting deadlines and mixing my marketing and commercial skills to come up with creative proposals. Getting the notice of award on any contract or project is always a buzz, particularly on the bigger contracts or when it’s for a new client. But for me the main reward is working with a great team and that’s something I know I’m fortunate to be a part of.
