ELECTRIC LINE LOGGING & TRACTOR FIELD ENGINEER TRAINEE PROGRAMME, ABERDEEN

Our 7-week Electric Line Logging and Tractor Field Engineer Trainee Programme in Aberdeen is centred around providing practical and theoretical training to those starting in the industry. The vast experience and expertise of our instructors, combined with our excellent Training Centre facilities in Aberdeen, makes Altus Intervention the place to begin your career. 

The aim of the programme is to train candidates to assume the position of an Electric Line Logging and Tractor Field Engineer Trainee, with the required knowledge, skills and experience to progress to more senior roles.

The ideal candidate
The programme is designed to develop individuals with little to no experience in the oil and gas industry.  The ideal candidates will have a HND/BSc, or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline, although not essential.  It is a requirement for candidates to complete the standard requirements to travel offshore e.g. offshore medical and survival. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to work in the UK.

 

Well Services Trainee Programme content
Your training will include the following:
  • Basic industry safety courses and Altus Intervention minimum standards training
  • Oil & gas industry context, including geology, completion, production logging, well integrity, perforation and well intervention services.
  • Electrical wireline services; surface equipment, rig up, downhole tools, tool strings, software, pressure control equipment and carrying out basic wireline logging and intervention services.
  • Operational training on Altus Intervention electric line logging services and operations.
  • QHSE perspective will be implemented throughout the training programme.
Our experienced personnel will deliver the course, providing on the job training.

Cost
Altus Intervention will cover the costs of training.  It is the candidate's responsibility to pay for travel and accommodation (if required) to attend the 7-week training course in Portlethen, Aberdeen.

Pay
You will earn while you learn on the job. Initially, you will receive a trainee level salary and a daily offshore bonus rate while working offshore, which will then increase upon promotion as you progress through the competence framework.

The next training programme will run for 7 weeks, starting in May (date still to be announced).  Candidates must be available for the full 7 weeks – no holidays are permitted within this time.

Location
The training programme will take place in Portlethen, Aberdeen at the Altus Intervention Training Centre.

The Altus Intervention Training Centre
The Training Centre facilitates classroom training, workshops and a training area where we can replicate an offshore stand-alone setup to provide as much practical experience as possible. This provides the ideal environment for practical training and testing of tools and equipment.

Career progression
The training that you receive will allow you to gain the required skills and knowledge to begin your career offshore.  Upon completion of the required training and experience, you will be promoted through the competence framework, cementing your place in the well intervention industry. The programme will be stimulating and is designed to stretch your capabilities to meet the demands of the job.

We have now completed 13 successful intakes of Well Services Trainees – some of which are now working in supervisory roles within the company.
